  someone may have linked to this already, but the this interactive page in the pew religion study is pretty interesting, especially when you look at the trends for jw between 2007 and 2014. here's what it shows:.

  jws are increasingly non-white.

  in fact, the percentage of white jws has decreased from 2007 to 2014 by 12%, while hispanic jws have increased by 8%.

  Religion loves misery and poverty. It gives them (false) hope and escape from their misery. Blacks and Hispanics are the most impoverished in the general population.

  Yes, but the OP was asking about the age of us "who use this forum". I took that to mean posters though I may have interpreted that wrongly.

  However, the straw poll shows that the majority of the respondents (lurkers or not) are definitely over 40.

  there is a huge difference between been religious and been spiritual.

  been religious is about been superior to others in the sight of god.

  however, been spiritual is about self awareness, inner peace and unity with the natural world.

  The oldsters have the most perspective because they can look back through several decades worth of history.

  i don't have a great reference point on my observation other than my local area but i was wondering if this was a widespread thing.

  ... in the last two years in my former congregation there have been 6 people to disassociate for "apostasy," 6 disfellowshipped for various reasons, and numerous ones reproved.

  these are just the ones i have heard about.

  How many people are there in that congregation?

  In a typical congregation of about a 100 that would be a large percentage. My understanding is that disfellowshipping usually averages to about 1% per year. It might just be a fluke depending on the type of elders that are involved.

  she would coach her and say, "where does jehovah live?

  " in a sing-song voice.

  first time, been lurking for years, but i asked my husband who has been studying for 20 plus years if he has ever questioned those that were "teaching" him.

  blew my mind.

  i ask him all the questions that you have asked yourself, but he will not ask them.
